One of our main aims at Free Flight Academy has always been to offer a wide range of quality long haul trips, as one of the joys of paragliding is the opportunity it provides to explore the world. However whilst many of our trips cater for a wide range of pilot levels, not every adventure is suitable for everyone.
We believe that one of the keys to an enjoyable trip is to ensure each location is pitched to the right level of pilot, so with that in mind this intensive 10 day XC-and-Racing Clinic to the legendary Valle de Bravo, Mexico is designed for experienced, current XC pilots who are flying gliders appropriate for their skill level.
Given the instruction led nature of this trip we are pleased to announce Alex Schweig, an experienced World cup competition racing pilot will be joining Lee to share his experience. Alex has taken part in numerous World Cup competitions and knows this particular location well, having twice participated in the yearly local Monarca Open competition (resulting in a top-10 finish).
This is an intensive, personalised clinic designed to polish your thermalling and gliding skills in order to give each of you the tools to fly fast and decisively in conditions ranging from scratchy to powerful. We will also teach you how to set race tasks into your flight instruments and fully explain the basics of racing paragliders cross-country. Each day accordingy to the weather and group progression we will set tasks and have everyone racing through the Mexican landscape - in order to determine who buys the last evenings’ round of fiery mezcal shots!!!
To ensure the trip is one to remember we will be based at the beautiful Mesón de Leyendas hotel in the middle of town - a short walk away from “Taco Alley” as well as the bustling colonial town center. It is also a relatively short walk from Valles lakeside landing back to the accommodation.
For those wishing to bring a second, lightweight mini-wing or Hike and Fly kit, there is also the possibility of doing an afternoon hike up to the takeoff at La Torre for sunset soaring.
The group size will be strictly capped at eight pilots and accommodation is based on two sharing although single rooms are available at an extra cost.
